The Bender AGH420 is a coupling device designed for use with ISOMETER® devices of the isoxx425 series in unearthed AC/DC systems (IT systems) with a voltage range of 0…1000 V. It facilitates the measurement of insulation resistance by the ISOMETER® by injecting a measuring voltage into the system being monitored.

Important Note: The AGH420 and AGH420-1 are not interchangeable. The coupling device and ISOMETER® should only be used in combinations defined by the ISOMETER®’s documentation.

Product Parameters

The specific parameters of the AGH420 depend on the ISOMETER® it is used with. However, some general aspects and parameters related to its usage include:

• Nominal System Voltage (Un) with compatible ISOMETER®: 3(N)AC, AC 0…690 V / DC 0…1000 V (Note: For UL508 applications, the range might be AC/DC 0…600 V).
• Frequency Range: Typically 35…460 Hz (if used in AC systems).
• Connection to ISOMETER®: Via dedicated terminals (Up, AK1, GND, AK2).
• Temperature: If operated at system voltages > 800 V, the enclosure temperature may exceed 60 °C.

Precautions

When using the Bender AGH420, observe the following precautions:

• Danger of Electric Shock: The device operates with voltages up to 1000 V. Touching live parts or incorrect connections can lead to death or severe injury and damage to the electrical installation or the device.
• De-energize Before Installation: Ensure the installation is de-energized before installing or connecting the device. Follow the rules for working on electrical installations.
• Hot Surfaces: If the AGH420 is operated at system voltages above 800 V, the enclosure can become hot (exceeding 60 °C). Avoid touching the device surfaces after it is connected to the mains voltage.
• Proper Combination: Only use the AGH420 with the specific ISOMETER® models it is designed for, as indicated in the respective datasheets. AGH420 and AGH420-1 are not interchangeable.
• Mains Internal Resistance: To ensure correct functioning with certain ISOMETER® models (e.g., isoEV425), a mains internal resistance of ≤ 1 kΩ must exist between L1/+ and L2/- via the source or the load.
• UL Applications: For UL applications, use only 60/75°C copper wires and fuses rated over 5 A to protect the supply voltage. If using isoEV425 according to UL2231, the automatic self-test must be disabled, and manual self-tests should be performed.
