Intelligent hardware universal vision software can endow robots with real-time perception and adaptive capabilities through any camera or sensor
The simple and user-friendly web interface, combined with ABB’s offline programming simulation software RobotStudio®, enables quick setup and deployment within just a few hours
• Significantly enhance the perception and visual reasoning capabilities of robots – another important milestone in the development history of ABB’s autonomous multi-purpose robot (AVRTM) technology
ABB Robotics today launched the OmniCoreTM EyeMotion vision system, which can be installed on all ABB robots equipped with OmniCore. By using any third-party camera or sensor, it can perceive the surrounding environment and adapt in real time even in complex application scenarios.

Over the past decade, we have continuously advanced the development of AI vision technology, enabling robots to “see” the world from a 3D perspective. However, in the past, this relied on dedicated advanced camera hardware. Ma Sikang, the global president of ABB’s Robotics Business Unit, said, “The OmniCore EyeMotion vision system released by ABB this time has broken through this limitation at one go, enabling various robots to not only ‘see’ but also ‘understand’ their surrounding environment in 2D and 3D vision applications, significantly enhancing the autonomy and multi-functionality of robots.”
This software features a simple and user-friendly web interface, supporting drag-and-drop sensor and camera configuration. Both professional and novice users can easily get started and quickly achieve image acquisition and recognition. It can be fully integrated with the ABB software suite and work in conjunction with ABB’s offline programming simulation software RobotStudio® to achieve rapid setup and deployment. Compared with customized solutions, this software can reduce debugging time by up to 90%.

The OmniCore EyeMotion vision system will bring about a revolution in robot automation across numerous industries, covering application scenarios such as item sorting and quality inspection in fields including automotive, electronic manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and food and beverage.
In more complex application scenarios, the OmniCore EyeMotion vision system can also be combined with ABB’s unique online automatic path planning technology, thereby enabling real-time and continuous autonomous planning and execution of collision-free optimal paths to avoid obstacles and dynamic objects without human intervention, enhancing autonomy in key tasks such as picking up and placing. And reduce the beat time by 50%.
The OmniCore EyeMotion vision system can enhance the sensing, perception and visual reasoning capabilities of robots, marking another significant milestone in the development history of ABB’s autonomous multi-functional robot (AVR) technology.
ABB’s next-generation robots will integrate vision, precision, speed, flexibility and mobility, and achieve autonomous planning and real-time execution of multiple tasks under the empowerment of generative AI, without the need for human intervention.
The OmniCore EyeMotion vision system will be showcased for the first time at the 25th China International Industry Fair (CIIF) to be held in Shanghai from September 23rd to 27th, 2025.
