Laying the Foundation for Digital Energy and Injecting Powerful “Core” Power
Since its inception, the Digital Energy Joint Laboratory has achieved a series of fruitful results, including the launch of solutions such as 4.5kW and 12kW server power supplies and a 500W single-stage microinverter. These solutions utilize advanced topologies to meet the evolving industry demands for high efficiency and high power density. The implementation of these solutions not only demonstrates the innovative strength of GigaDevice and Navitas Semiconductor in the digital energy sector, but also highlights the unique advantages and market competitiveness brought about by the integration of their technologies.
The 500W single-stage photovoltaic microinverter solution, based on GigaDevice’s GD32G553 MCU and Navitas’ bidirectional GaNFast™ gallium nitride power chips, utilizes a single-stage, one-to-one architecture, offering high efficiency, low losses, high integration, and cost optimization. Combined with an optimized hybrid modulation strategy and soft-switching technology, it achieves peak efficiency exceeding 97.5%, CEC efficiency exceeding 97%, and MPPT efficiency exceeding 99.9%. The single-stage architecture directly converts DC to AC, eliminating a DC-DC converter stage, improving power density and reducing component count and losses. Magnetic integration and Navitas’ bidirectional GaN switches further reduce size and bill of materials (BOM) costs.
Based on GigaDevice’s GD32G553 MCU, combined with Navitas’ GaNSafe™ GaN power chips and third-generation fast SiC MOSFETs, the 4.5kW and 12kW AI server power solutions are designed for AI and traditional servers, as well as hyperscale data centers. The 12kW solution not only complies with the Open Compute Project (OCP), Open Rack v3 (ORv3), and CRPS specifications, but also achieves a peak efficiency of 97.8% while exceeding the 80 PLUS Ruby standard with a minimalist component layout.
